Aiming to develop a new symbiotic energy source: "biofuel cell".
In the energy sector, fuel cells are attracting attention as a next-generation energy source. Fuel cells generate electricity through the reaction of hydrogen and oxygen, and since the only product is water, they are a very clean energy source. However, currently widespread fuel cells have many problems that need to be solved, including environmental impact during manufacturing and disposal, depletion issues, and the high cost of both electrolytes and catalysts.
Therefore, we are searching for and researching new bio-derived materials that can be used for the "electrolyte membrane" and "hydrogen fuel," which are the heart of fuel cells, this next-generation energy source. To date, we have shown that collagen, chitin, and DNA, among others, have high hydrogen ion conductivity and can be used as fuel cell electrolytes. Furthermore, we have also shown that hydrogen ions (protons) produced by photosynthetic and enzymatic reactions unique to living organisms can be used as a hydrogen fuel source.

Proposals and practices for spatial and environmental design; research into the history of interior and architectural design.
When examining the works and writings of outstanding modern architects, it becomes clear that they all shared an abstract way of thinking common to furniture, interiors, architecture, and environmental design. Abstract thinking is often perceived as useless in reality because it is merely a concept, but precisely because it is a concept, it can offer something useful to society across generations. With this in mind, I am researching the following themes.
○ Proposals and practices regarding "photosynthetic architecture"
◯ The design methods and effects of interior and architectural designer Eileen Gray ◯ Architectural features in folding screens created by Eileen Gray as a lacquer artist ◯ The influence of the enigmatic lacquer artist, Sugawara Seizo, on European decorative artists ◯ Design systems proposed by interior and architectural designers in the early 20th century
